Lindisfarne Stones: the finished piece
I only just got Lindisfarne Stones finished in time, and it's now been handed over for the exhibition in Durham Cathedral, but I took a few photos of it before it went.
Next to the gold, the pale carved stone looks almost luminous:
And the gold stitching sparkles in the light:
I'm very much looking forward to seeing it in the Cathedral - I'll let you know how it goes!

ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Ruth! I wish that I'd been able to see it. I was just in Durham last week and saw your banner hanging proudly there. The Cathedral is such a lovely place. And full of wonderful embroidery. I wish I'd been allowed to take pictures.

The stone and stitching work together superbly! It reminds me in shape and size of a little kneeler - stone being the sort of thing that grumpy St Cuthbert would probably have approved of kneeling on!
